What are Holistic Treatments Like?
Aromatherapy Massage
Aromatherapy massage techniques focus on the ‘individual prescription’, selecting and balancing
oils to suit the individual client. Aromatherapy can help relieve stress, muscular aches and pains,
skin problems and reduce feelings of depression. It can enhance lymphatic drainage, which helps to
reduce fluid retention and prevent oedema. It can also help to increase energy levels as blockages
and congestion in the nerves are eased.
Reiki
Reiki is an ancient Japanese form of healing that is thought to date back thousands of years. It
is a gentle, non-invasive form of hands-on healing used for stress reduction and relaxation that
promotes healing. It is holistic in the sense that it works on a deep and profound level—healing
mind, body and spirit. Reiki involves the transfer of energy from the giver to the receiver and can
help with a wide range of physical and emotional conditions, bringing balance into one’s life.
Indian Head Massage
This massage is not confined to the head; the upper neck, upper arms, face and shoulders are
included in the treatment. Indian head massage relieves stress, stiffness, headaches, sinusitis and
eye strain, encourages hair growth and is said to help reduce hair loss.
Reflexology
Reflexology relies on manipulation and massage of the feet to restore and maintain the body’s
natural equilibrium. During treatment, nerve endings in each foot are stimulated. These nerve
endings correspond to organs and systems throughout the body. Working on particular points of the
feet may affect the corresponding organ or system of the body. The treatment encourages the natural
healing potential of the body, improves circulation, cleanses the body of toxins and impurities,
revitalises energy and balances the whole system. While reflexology does not claim to diagnose or
cure, it can be effective for problems such as pain, sleep disorders, digestive disorders and stress
related conditions.
Swedish Massage
The term ‘Swedish massage’ refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles
by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as
the flow of blood returning to the heart. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the
oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles.
The use of Hopi Ear Candles
Thermal Auricular Therapy - (Hopi Ear Candles)
This therapy comes to us via the Hopi, a tribe of Native Americans. Ancient
wall paintings show ear candles being used in initiation and healing ceremonies.
The treatment is gentle and non-invasive.
Clients lie on one side first, then the other, while the practitioner holds a
candle over the auditory canal and lights it. The candle causes a gentle warming
effect, never burning close to the ear, and
works on the chimney principle, drawing impurities to the surface where they
can be removed. No materials are deposited in the ear. Ear candles can help
with conditions such as sinusitis,
irritation in the ear, catarrh, colds, flu, rhinitis, hay fever, headaches and
migraines, tinnitus,
labrynthitis, Menier’s syndrome and vertigo, as well as help relieve pressure
from flying or driving. The candles can be relaxing and calming in cases of excessive
excitement and stress.
All our holistic therapists are professional, fully qualified and insured.
